Netflix Jobs – Manager, Resilience Engineering

Job Description:

The Resilience Engineering team finds vulnerabilities, risks, and limits in our system before they lead to large-scale issues. To do this, we’ve built an Infrastructure Experimentation platform, which Netflix Engineers use to safely experiment with their services in production. Our platform runs controlled chaos, load, and software change experiments in production so that engineers can better understand the limits of their application and the Netflix ecosystem.

Job Responsibilities:

• You might not be the most technical person in the room but you have the ability to help the team talk through technical tradeoffs to make great decisions
• You think in tradeoffs that balance between critical business needs and strong engineering principles
• You are comfortable making strategic bets while driving tactical execution
• You are familiar with Resilience and Reliability concepts
• You lead through empowerment and enablement focusing on how you can continue to grow your engineers
• You have been managing teams for awhile and continuously think deeply about how you can improve your management skills

Job Requirements:

• Define a roadmap and execution strategy in collaboration with peer engineering teams, partners, and product management teams
• Deliver and receive candid feedback in a variety of situations
• Work with other leaders to help uncover future opportunities and collaborate to drive impactful work that brings all of Platform Engineering forward
• Growing senior engineers deep into their careers to help them increase their impact at Netflix
• Create strong partnerships to drive cross-functional projects forward
• Partner with the Resilience team engineers to create direction for the team and a plan that can be delivered on
• Build an exceptional team by recruiting, evaluating, and hiring stunning colleagues
• Create a great work environment where different backgrounds, cultures, industry and life experiences are embraced and valued
• Influence experimentation infrastructure design and development to deliver trusted functionality serving a wide variety of use cases
• Give context and guide the direction for the team
• Act as a bridge between your team and many other parts of the company accurately representing them in situations where they can’t be present
